Apps I use every day:
McSweeny’s: wonderful short stories and multimedia content from the makers of McSweeny’s magazine.

Instapaper Pro: Save long articles for later and read them on a distraction free screen. Also comes in a free basic version.

Tweetie 2: My Twitter client of choice. Twitterriffic is nice, too, but I prefer Tweetie because of its uncanny speed.

Facebook: I actually prefer the iPhone-facebook over the web-interface.

Fever: Not really an app, it’s an iPhone friendly interface for my self-hosted RSS-reader.

Apps I use every other day:
RunKeeper: Helps me keep track of my cycling activity.

Mobile Fotos: Does a better job at uploading images to flickr than the flickr app itself.

Things: Very well designed to-do list app. It syncs with Things on my mac. To-do: Write more to-do lists.

Dropbox: Great companion app to the already great online storage service Dropbox.

Ego: Tracks statistics of all my online endeavours and displays them beautifully.

Convert: Elegant, fun to use unit and currency conversion calculator.

Reference:
Jamie Oliver 20-minute-meals: Haven’t tried one of the recipes yet, but the app looks just gorgeous. The recipes are presented in Jamie’s trademark accessible style.

Wijngids: iPhone version of Nicolaas Klei’s bestselling Dutch supermarket wine guide.

Typography: Well designed typography reference book. Covers all the basics of the topic and has all kinds of useful resources for print- as well as web-typography.

Games:
Ramp Champ: Beautiful game where you have to flick balls up a ramp to hit goals. The concept is simple and appeals to the casual gamer, but winning all the trophies will cause some frustration and definitely requires skill.

Galcon: One of the first games I bought and still one of my favorites. Conquer a galaxy with your armada of spaceships. You can play against the computer or, much more fun, online against players all over the world. A single game takes 1-5 minutes to play.

Rolando, Rolando 2: Very cute series of games about a gang of round creatures that you roll around lush levels by tilting your iPhone. Less casual than the other games as there’s a narrative involved and some of the levels are pretty hard. Beautiful graphics and cool soundtrack by Mr Scruff.
